STR-PVC: the French PVC pipes and fittings association

TEPPFA was founded in 1991 and since the beginning, STR-PVC is one of the 15 national associations, members of the European association.
The French association for PVC pipes and fittings was founded in Paris in 1962. For the converters, main purpose was to standardize their products in order to create national standards. The first French Quality Mark was created in 1965. At the beginning, 10 000 tons were produced each year in France. Today, the PVC pipes and fittings annual production is about 245 000 tons.

PVC is a solid, lightweight and leak-proof material that can be used to create high-quality products that naturally combine high technical properties with superior environmental performance. In France, PVC is the leading plastic pipe resin in global use, especially for building and construction but also for civils and infrastructures. PVC is currently the safest way of transporting all types of effluent, from sewage through to drinking water, an essential resource for life.

STR-PVC represents 6 company members that are: GIRPI, NICOLL, PIPELIFE, REHAU, SOTRA SEPEREF and WAVIN. The company members of STR-PVC represent 2 800 people in France. Four years ago, the French association decided to change its organization structure in order to contribute closely to the development of the market. Therefore, 3 working groups have developed special subjects for 3 major applications: Building, sewage and pressure. 4 working groups support the development of the PVC pipes and fittings industry.

The missions of STR-PVC are:
- Technical coordination: Standardization, certification, quality;
- Promotion and economics: documentation, fairs, information and press, market statistics;
- Environment: Defense and promotion of plastics, Follow up and evolution of regulations, recycling.
